Seasoned Black Beans

Serves: 4


  • 4 cups or 2 cans cooked black beans, reserve 1/2 cup of the liquid and drain and rinse the rest
  • 1 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 3/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 tsp cumin
  • 3/4 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp coriander
  • 1/4 tsp chipotle seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt (to taste)


  1. Add the beans, bean liquid, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, oregano, coriander, chipotle seasoning, and salt to a small-medium size pot.
  2. Mix well and cook over medium-low heat until thickened, approximately 8-10 minutes.

Variations & Notes:

  • Beans can also be seasoned with 3/4 tsp cumin, 3/4 tsp chili powder, and 1/2-1 tsp sea salt (this is what we do when making quesadillas).
