Hummus + Pita Chips

Hummus + Pita Chips

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Hummus:

  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2 15-oz cans of chickpeas, drained, 2 tbs of liquid reserved
  • 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 2 freshly squeezed lemons (6 tbs)
  • 1 tsp Frank’s Original hot sauce

Pita Chips:

  • 1 pkg of whole wheat pita bread
  • olive oil
  • 1 tbs nutritional yeast (optional)
  • salt

Directions:

Hummus:

  1. Mince the garlic in a small food processor.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and process until the hummus is coarsely pureed.
  3. Taste for seasoning and serve.

Pita Chips:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Cut each pita bread into quarters and each quarter in half to make 8 triangles.
  3. Please them in a single layer on a sheet pan and sprinkle lightly with olive oil, nutritional yeast (if using), and salt.
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes (depending on how crisp you want them), turning once.
